170. Apr 28, 2017. #1. I bought a very well used biax 7ELM power scraper. The part where the blades attach slides on 2 metal bars that are held to the body of the scraper with 4mm dowel pints. These bars, or sliding surfaces, are highly polished and are the main wear surfaces. I shudder to think what a replacement costs.

BIAX is also coming out with a newer and better scraper line soon and things will get better. Also the BIAX scraper will increase productivity by 50% or more. I admit that a Swiss hand scraped way is a beautiful art. Sip used to use the BIAX up until the last couple of passes when they hand scraped to get their signature hand scraped look. G-Day.

This is my old traveling kit, beaten well by the airlines over the years. Blue Dapra biax scraper, one factory blade holder, a couple customs, some HSS blanks. New cord and leather handle. Old, works as it should. Borel and Dunner power flaker with a super rare extra blade. Does very nice patterning, take practice to get good.

The rubber wedges are about $2.50 each from Dapra. I just bought some. I also have made my own by buying a "rubber" stopper from the hardware store and cutting it into a wedge shape. The stopper rubber has more give than the Dapra wedges. They both work- but my home made one is thicker and better fits some of my thin homemade blades.
